The communication minister's conversation with the first Israeli astronaut
Today at 16:00 the Minister of Communications and Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Binyamin (Fouad) Ben Eliezer, visited the Communications Corps Pavilion at the Telecom 2000 exhibition, the Minister was accompanied by the Communications Minister and his deputy, and by the Director General of the Ministry of Communications Danny Rosen (also He is a graduate of the Communications Corps) and his wife Dolly.
During the visit, the minister asked professional questions about the future of the infantry fighter in the future, saw a presentation related to the establishment of communication infrastructures, and spoke with a soldier from the communications corps located in Ma'ale Ephraim, via a television phone.
The real attraction was at the aerial communications and computing station. His Honor the Minister spoke via a video conference system, with Col. Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli astronaut, who has been in a special NASA facility in the United States for the past year and a half.
The minister wished Col. Ramon good luck, and told him that he was impressed by the exhibition, and that of all the media exhibitions he had seen in the world, the pavilion of the Communications Corps was the most serious.
Col. Ramon replied in response that many people around the world, and especially at NASA, believe in the technical ability of the Israel Defense Forces, and that he is proud to represent the IDF abroad.
In closing, Fuad wished Col. Ramon great success, and the first astronaut shared with the minister his strong desire to take off into space, and wave goodbye to the people of Israel, every 90 minutes he passes over the country.
