New light on the possibility of life on Mars

In the photo: a series of excavations in a small area on Mars that was nicknamed the "Rocknest" (Rocknest). The excavations were done using Curiosity's excavation device that collected samples for testing inside the vehicle at the SAM facility, which is designed to search for signatures of organic molecules - the building blocks of life. The colorful mosaic was pieced together from high-resolution images taken on days 74 and 93 of the mission. Photo: NASA / JPL-Caltech / MSSS/Ken Kremer / Marco Di Lorenzo

Could NASA announce the discovery of organic molecules on Mars?

Pictured: NASA's Curiosity rover has discovered evidence of a stream channel that flowed on Mars at several sites, including the rock outcrop depicted in this image, which scientists named 'Hoota' after Lake Hoota in Canada's Northwest Territories. Photo: NASA/JPL-Caltech/ MSSS
