The farmers are dealing with another variety of diseases, fungi and other pests, and that's even before we talked about the bad weather. Without spraying, proper watering, pruning and shaping the tree and thinning the fruit, the harvest would have been much poorer, and it is doubtful that there would have been enough beautiful, reddish apples for the holiday table.
